Huntsville City Schools hosted a retirement ceremony to honor teachers, support staff, and administrators retiring for the 2022-2023 school year. At the event, which was held at the Huntsville Country Club, the HCS Human Resources Department recognized 47 employees that have retired or are retiring this year at the event which was held at the Huntsville Country Club.
Those who received special recognitions included Constance Stephens at Grissom High who served for 47 years and Valerie Knight at Williams Elementary who served for 31 years.
Additionally, support staff with the most years of service include Bonnie Venezia at Grissom with 26 years and Delores Brewer at the security office with 20 years.
This year also sees the retirement of HCS Superintendent Christie Finley, who served the district for 21 years out of more than 30 total in education.
